David Moyes is reportedly willing to hop aboard a sinking ship.

According to Pat Murphy of BBC Sport, Moyes is interested in the manager's job at Aston Villa, whose relegation from the Premier League was confirmed on Saturday by virtue of a 1-0 defeat at Manchester United, marking the season's first casualty.

Moyes, unemployed after being sacked by Real Sociedad nearly six months ago, is apparently keen to return to managing and is attracted to the challenge of reviving Villa, but Nigel Pearson, also unemployed, remains the bookmakers' favourite to take over at the club. There is allegedly also support for Mick McCarthy, Sean Dyche, and Steve Bruce.

Paddy Riley, Villa's head of recruitment, reportedly flew to Spain to talk to Moyes while the latter was still working at Sociedad, and the Scottish manager questioned the quality of the 12 players who were brought to Villa Park for £55 million.

Villa possesses a laughable 16 points from 34 Premier League fixtures, and its defeat at United marked a ninth successive loss. The club is yet to win since Eric Black was appointed as the club's caretaker manager.
