Report: Mourinho contacted by PSG, preference remains Manchester United

Jose Mourinho has another suitor.

The coveted Portuguese bench boss, long linked with a move to Manchester United come season's end, has reportedly been approached by Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi over potentially replacing Laurent Blanc at the end of the campaign.

Andy Burton of Sky Sports reports that Mourinho, 53, was approached by the Qatari chairman following the French club's Champions League elimination earlier this month, though his preference remains to wait things out and monitor the developments at Old Trafford.

The polarising Portuguese, fired by Chelsea earlier this season after a dismal start to the campaign, does consider PSG "a credible choice" for his potential return to the touchline, Burton explains:

Mourinho is known to have a friendship with Al-Khelaifi, which pre-dates the Qatari's ownership of PSG. Al-Khelaifi has tried to appoint the 53-year-old as manager twice before, and remains convinced the Portuguese is the man most likely to achieve the club's ambition of winning the Champions League.

PSG has remained mum on the subject, quickly issuing a "no comment" in light of the report. Blanc signed a two-year contract extension in February - which takes him through June of 2018 - but has come under scrutiny for his continued inability to guide the Parisians to the latter stages of the Champions League.

Mourinho's potential supplanting of Louis van Gaal at United has been a cloud hanging over the Premier League throughout the campaign, with various reports claiming the deal is so advanced that the well-travelled gaffer has already identified his desired backroom staff and a collection of targets in the summer transfer market.
