Report: Arsenal confident Ozil, Sanchez will pen extensions in summer
Arsenal is expected to step up contract talks with dexterous duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez this summer, and the Emirates Stadium hierarchy is apparently confident in securing both of their futures.
Rumours were that talks with Ozil's representatives had stalled, but the Evening Standard's James Olley understands that initial negotiations with the pair were successful, and that they are simply awaiting confirmation of Champions League football next season as well as assurances that Arsene Wenger will strengthen the club in the summer transfer window.
Borussia Monchengladbach's Granit Xhaka has been strongly linked with a move to north London to bolster its lacking pedigree in defensive midfield. A fee of €43 million (around £34 million) has been touted, although Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl recently denied there has been any contact from the Gunners.
Arsenal will strive to overcome the disappointment of a 1-1 home draw with Crystal Palace last time out in Thursday's visit from West Bromwich Albion.
