West Ham announced Tuesday the club has signed 20-year-old striker Ashley Fletcher out of Manchester United on a four-year contract after he underwent a successful medical at Spire Roding Hospital and agreed to personal terms.
Fletcher spent last season on loan with Barnsley and joins the Hammers after reportedly rejecting a new deal with the Red Devils. A member of the England under-20 team, he becomes the club's fourth summer signing behind Havard Nordtveit, Sofiane Feghouli, and Gokhan Tore.
“I am very excited to be here," Fletcher said in a club statement. "West Ham are a massive club and I am just happy that I can come and further my development here at West Ham.
"I think it is a club with a lot of ambition. They have a lot of good players and it was a special final season. They managed to finish the campaign very well.
"West Ham are a club built on traditions of giving youngsters a run and hopefully I can get my chance as well."
