Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo put a stopper on rumours of a potential reunion with Chelsea forward Diego Costa, telling reporters the club is done making signings in this summer's transfer window.
Costa, a former Atletico Madrid player, has been linked with a return to the Vicente Calderon in recent weeks, with new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte saying there were no guarantees the Spanish striker would remain at Stamford Bridge.
But after spending upwards of €80 million on players like Kevin Gameiro and Nicolas Gaitan, Cerezo says Atletico Madrid is all tapped out for the year.
"Diego has a contract with Chelsea and he belongs to Antonio Conte's team," Cerezo said, as quoted by ESPN FC. "Chelsea are our friends, just as the great Atletico man Diego Costa is our friend. But his place is with Chelsea and we are sure that he will be successful there. We cherish Diego for what he has given us and he knows where his home is."
"We have worked closely with (manager Diego Simeone) to sign players he is in agreement with," he added. "We haven't spent more than we have been able to. But we are done signing players. La Liga will not allow us to sign more, there will be no more signings."
