Report: Swansea eyes Atletico forgotten man Borja Baston

Swansea City has turned its attentions to Atletico Madrid's Borja Baston to bolster its depleted attacking numbers, according to BBC Sport's Dafydd Pritchard.

Francesco Guidolin allowed Alberto Paloschi, Eder, and Bafetimbi Gomis to depart the Liberty Stadium this summer, and is interested in replacing them with some Spanish flavour as Borja appears likely to follow Fernando Llorente of Sevilla to south Wales.

Borja, 23, has been at Atleti since the age of five, but only earned one La Liga outing for his hometown club. He took loan spells with Murcia, Huesca, Deportivo, Real Zaragoza, and Eibar, however, the latter of which saw him plunder 18 strikes in 2015-16.

The sensational signing of Kevin Gameiro from Sevilla means Diego Simeone has a potent duo in the new boy and Antoine Griezmann in the Spanish capital, shunting Borja firmly down the pecking order. At Swansea, Borja would instead vie with Andre Ayew and Marvin Emnes for minutes up front.

The forward has been nursing a broken wrist during preseason training due to a freak training injury that occurred when a strength-building elastic snapped during a workout.

Swansea begins its 2016-17 Premier League commitments at newly promoted Burnley on Aug. 13.
