Add Watford striker Odion Ighalo to West Brom's list of potential replacements for Saido Berahino.

The Baggies have identified Ighalo, 27, as one of their targets as they prepare for life without Berahino, according to Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas.

West Brom has made it a priority to fill Berahino's boots before he even departs the Hawthorns. The west Midlands outfit apparently turned down £20-million bids from Crystal Palace and Stoke City this summer for the 22-year-old, who's entering the final year of his contract.

Tony Pulis' side would've completed a club-record £16-million deal for West Ham striker Diafra Sakho had the Senegalese not failed his medical last week.

The club's recent Chinese takeover could also affect Pulis' transfer activity, with chairman Jeremy Peace also stepping down. Peace had played hard ball with Tottenham and Berahino last year, accusing Spurs of unsettling the striker as they attempted to lure the former England under-21 international with several bids.

Berahino never truly recovered from the fiasco, registering just four Premier League goals over the 2015-16 campaign.

Now West Brom is interested in signing Ighalo before the end of the transfer window on Aug. 31.

The Nigeria international combined well with teammate Troy Deeney last season, scoring 15 goals and contributing another three assists as Watford finished in 13th place. The Hornets reportedly rejected Shanghai SIPG's gargantuan £38-million offer for Ighalo in June, and they could put up a similar defence of their star striker in the last few weeks of the window.

Deeney himself had been the subject of a proposal from Leicester City, but he signed a new five-year contract with Watford to end rumours of a move.
