Lallana: Klopp's half-time speech motivated Liverpool's win over Arsenal

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana says manager Jurgen Klopp inspired the team's second-half triumph over Arsenal Sunday at the Emirates Stadium with a rousing speech at half-time, one that saw Lallana score a goal of his own in an eventual 4-3 victory.

The Reds went into the locker room at the end of the first half tied 1-1 with the Gunners, with Philippe Coutinho scoring at the stroke of half-time to restore the draw. But Lallana, Coutinho, and Sadio Mane all found the back of the net in the second 45 minutes in a performance the former Southampton man credits to Klopp's management style.

"It was very entertaining. We started the game not so brightly after we thought we had quite a good preseason," Lallana told Sky Sports after the match, as quoted by ESPN FC. "But it's always difficult coming to Arsenal."

"On the stroke of half-time there was a little bit of magic which gave us a little bit of a lift. The manager had a few words for us at half-time and we come out brilliantly. Football being football, maybe we got a bit complacent at 4-1 but we saw it out in the end."

Lallana was one of many former Saints players who put their name on the goal-scoring tally in this tilt, joined by Mane, Calum Chambers, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott. While they have all swapped shirts over the years, Lallana says this current crop of Liverpool players is feeling confident.

"We've got huge belief," Lallana said. "You only have to look at our squad and we've got top players on the bench, top players back at Melwood that weren't fit enough to come with us. So we've got a great squad.

"We're not in Europe this year so we've got a lot of weeks where it's one game a week ... We've got belief and confidence in ourselves, we've set our own targets. We will just take it one step at a time and the three points today was just brilliant."
