Dinamo Zagreb 'keeper Eduardo set to join Chelsea
Veteran Portuguese goalkeeper Eduardo is expected to swap Dinamo Zagreb for Chelsea next week after receiving an offer from the west London side.
Zagreb manager Zlatko Kranjcar told reporters Thursday that Eduardo, 33, will be allowed to leave the Croatian outfit following the second leg of its Champions League play-off against Red Bull Salzburg.
The tie is currently even at 1-1 on aggregate.
Eduardo would rival Asmir Begovic as Chelsea's back-up for starter Thibaut Courtois.
"Eduardo has been given an amazing opportunity to leave for a big club like Chelsea. When he arrived (in 2014) we gained security in our team, and in my time in the club he has defended his goal very well. But the situation is that he is leaving," Kranjcar said at a news conference, according to ESPN FC's Liam Twomey. "May he have all the good luck in a big club."
After bouncing around Europe with the likes of Braga, Genoa, and Istanbul Basaksehir, Eduardo found a home in Zagreb. He also won Euro 2016 with Portugal this summer, although he didn't make an appearance in France.
Eduardo would become Chelsea's third summer signing, following the arrivals of Michy Batshuayi and N'Golo Kante.
