Henrik Larsson: Leaving United 'the only regret I have in my career'
Celtic and Sweden legend Henrik Larsson admitted the only regret he has in his illustrious career is leaving Manchester United after his two-month loan spell at the club.
Larsson, 45, joined United from Swedish side Helsingborgs in January of 2007, and he scored on his debut, against Aston Villa in an FA Cup third-round fixture at Old Trafford.
"That's the only regret I have in my career," Larsson said to FourFourTwo. "I should have stayed, as it would have meant I got a Premier League winners' medal, and I would have stayed for one more season."
The gifted Swede went on to register three goals in 13 appearances for The Red Devils in all competitions, and he decided to leave due to his contractual obligations.
"Everything was professional at Manchester United. When I had to attend a christening for my brother's children, the club ordered a plane to take me there after a match," Larsson said.
"United really take care of all their players.
"But I still had a contract with Helsingborgs and I feel that when you sign a contract, you have to see it out."
Although the striker never got his hands on the prestigious Premier League winners' medal, he did take a drink from the Champions League trophy.
Larsson played his final game for Barcelona in the Champions League final against Arsenal in 2006, and he had a huge impact on the game, coming off the bench to assist both goals in a 2-1 victory for Los Blaugranas.
