Mourinho doubts injured Carrick, Mkhitaryan will feature in EFL Cup final
Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Michael Carrick could struggle to overcome their respective injuries in time to feature for Manchester United during the EFL Cup final against Southampton.
After Manchester United beat Saint-Etienne to progress into the Europa League's Round of 16, manager Jose Mourinho revealed both players are considered doubtful to feature Sunday at Wembley Stadium after picking up injuries Wednesday.
Mourinho told reporters he believes both players will miss Sunday's final based on past experiences with such injuries, but said the club's medical staff will provide a clearer picture of how long each of them will be out.
Mkhitaryan opened the scoring against the Ligue 1 outfit before he was forced to limp off the pitch in the 25th minute with a hamstring problem.
Back in the country where I spent my childhood. So happy to have scored, but sad to have left the pitch that early. Fingers crossed #mufc pic.twitter.com/nDXczXCoIH

Carrick followed suit in the second half when he picked up a calf knock. He was replaced by Bastian Schweinsteiger.
