Dele Alli saw the first red card of his career as he desperately lunged at Gent's Brecht Dejaegere in the 40th minute in an effort to regain possession in Thursday's Europa League bout.
Tottenham Hotspur was unable to make up for the loss of a man for the rest of the tilt, drawing 2-2 on the night to be eliminated from the Round of 32 courtesy of a 3-2 aggregate defeat.
Mauricio: "We created chances but have paid for the 1st leg. Dele is sad & disappointed about his action. He made a mistake. It's football."
