Leipzig's Werner: Playing at Liverpool's Anfield would be special
Playing in front of the Kop and hearing Liverpool supporters sing would be a "special" experience, admits standout RB Leipzig poacher Timo Werner, but the 21-year-old is not considering a move to England just yet.
Werner is currently the Bundesliga's highest-scoring German with 14 goals in 24 appearances, leading one of the most surprising attacking units in the country.
The Daily Mail's Simon Jones fueled rumours of a potential switch to Anfield last week after reporting Werner had grabbed the attention of Liverpool scouts.
The player's agent corroborated Jones' account, adding that there is "general interest" from Premier League clubs.
And it appears Werner has at least thought about playing for Liverpool - even if he is comfortable at Leipzig.
"If you were to play at Anfield and hear the fans sing 'You'll Never Walk Alone,' it would certainly be something special," Werner told Sport Bild, courtesy of ESPN FC's Stephan Uersfeld. "England has a different feel, but I am also a young player.
"I feel at home here at RB right now. Leipzig can continue to grow, and if I could be part of it I'd be delighted."
Werner could make his first start for Germany on Wednesday in a friendly against England, as retiring international Lukas Podolski makes way for the next generation of strikers.
