Ozil to hold contract talks with Arsenal soon
Arsenal's Mesut Ozil is in no rush to get a new deal locked up with the club, but said he plans on holding talks regarding his future soon enough.
The Germany international has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks as Arsenal has yet to agree to new terms with Ozil or his teammate and fellow headliner Alexis Sanchez. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has postponed negotiations with the two until the summer, a timeline Ozil seems to agree with.
"Do you think Arsene Wenger tells the journalists before he tells me? I know him differently," Ozil told Die Welt of his future with the club, as quoted by Sky Sports. "I have a contract until 2018 in London and I feel very comfortable there. We'll talk soon and then make a decision."
Arsenal, currently sixth, is on track to miss out on a Champions League spot for next season, having crashed out of this year's iteration in a 10-2 aggregate loss to Bayern Munich.
And while Champions League football is important to Ozil, missing a spot next season won't necessarily spell the end of his time at the Emirates.
"My dream is to win the Champions League. Why not with Arsenal? Of course, we just have a difficult time and are not satisfied with sixth place," Ozil said.
"I am convinced, however, that we will catch up again soon. Let's see what the future holds."
