Celtic would have no problem competing in the Premier League, claimed ebullient manager Brendan Rodgers after the Glaswegian giant's sixth consecutive league triumph.

The Bhoys, who have won 28 of 30 league tilts this season, eased to the summit of the Scottish Premiership with eight matches remaining, securing the title Sunday by virtue of a bossy 5-0 win over Hearts.

Four different players have passed the 10-goal mark, but none more than sensational summer signing Moussa Dembele, who has bulged the net 22 times over the course of the domestic campaign.

Rodgers conceded he would have to make more signings if Celtic were to ever challenge the English elite. But even without the riches from the Premier League's record £5-billion television deal, Rodgers argued Celtic would have a real chance.

"Could we play in the Premier League? Yes, we could," the former Liverpool and Swansea handler told Sky Sports. "I have absolutely no doubt about it because we've got the Celtic factor. We have 60,000 every other week. Without the money alone, this team would compete in the Premier League.

"We took a Swansea team who won the Championship into the Premier League and we finished 11th, but for us and what were trying to do, that was very, very good.

"But this is Celtic. This is one of the great iconic clubs in the world, so there is no doubt that with this group we could go in (there and compete). Imagine the backing then."

Rodgers added, "Celtic would be minimum top four, top six clubs in the English Premier League, and then that puts you on a different level altogether."

Competition in Scotland is at a low, with nearest challenger Aberdeen a whopping 25 points behind Rodgers' side.
