Liverpool unveils retro home kit to mark 125th anniversary

Liverpool simply got this one right.

The Reds went old school to mark their 125th anniversary as a club, unveiling a gorgeous retro home kit Thursday for the 2017-18 campaign.

Featuring a classic white V-neck that mimics its 1984 European Cup-winning outfit - as worn by the likes of Kenny Dalglish - Liverpool's new gear is a nod to the club's rich history.

"There is a huge sense of pride that comes with wearing an LFC shirt and it is always an honour, but this kit is special," captain Jordan Henderson said in a statement. "Our 125th anniversary is a great moment for us all to celebrate our heritage and this kit really reflects that, especially as it features the anniversary crest - we'll wear it with pride."

The new crest is a slight reincarnation of the famous Liver bird, flanked by the club's year of establishment, 1892, and the current 2017.

The kit also sports classy pinstripes, and continues to pay tribute to the 96 supporters who lost their lives at Hillsborough with an emblem on the back.

Should Liverpool qualify for the Champions League, players and supporters alike would look sharp and menacing on away days across Europe.

New Balance, an American manufacturer, produced the new look - its third kit since signing the biggest kit supplier deal in Liverpool history in 2015.
