Guardiola: 'We’re going to buy Yaya as big a birthday cake as possible'
Although the seemingly strained relations between Manchester City and Yaya Toure have frosted over, manager Pep Guardiola has big plans for the Ivorian as he attempts to make up for the famous birthday blunder of 2014.
Three years ago, Toure's agent, Dmitry Seluk, alleged that his client considered leaving the club after City disrespected him by failing to properly mark his 31st birthday.
The midfielder, who turns 34 on Saturday, eventually remained with City after his reputation got battered in the media and Cakegate fizzled out.
On Friday, talks of finishing in the top four or beating Leicester City this weekend took a backseat when Guardiola kicked off his meeting with the press by confirming the club's plans to celebrate Toure's birthday after Saturday's match.
#PEP: We’re going to buy Yaya as big a birthday cake as possible. We’ll do that after the game.

Seluk has also urged City fans to show their appreciation by bringing birthday cakes to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday in order to give Toure "a special goodbye" as he enters the final weeks of his contract.
