Report: Arsenal submits €50M bid for Lacazette

Arsenal has offered €50 million to sign Lyon's high-profile striker, Alexandre Lacazette, according to RMC Sport's Mohamed Bouhafsi.

Discussions are reportedly at an advanced stage, with a decisive meeting between the two clubs scheduled for next week.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is open to selling the 26-year-old after turning away bids in previous transfer windows.

Negotiations with Atletico Madrid hit an impasse after the Spanish side failed to overturn its yearlong transfer ban.

Arsenal then emerged as a potential landing spot for Lacazette, who would bring a guarantee of goals with him to the Emirates. The Gunners submitted a "very nice" proposal last week, although Aulas didn't appear to give it that much thought.

Bouhafsi's €50-million figure is much closer to Lyon's reported €55-million asking price.

Arsenal has also been linked with a potential world-record move for Monaco's teenage standout, Kylian Mbappe, but the price could prove prohibitive.

While still not a cheap alternative, Lacazette would come at a significantly lower cost.

Whether the player would agree to join Arsenal is unclear. Lacazette is currently on holiday, Bouhafsi added, but a conclusion to this affair is expected by the end of next week.

As far back as January 2016, Lacazette revealed he would like to play in the Premier League, but only if he were guaranteed minutes.

The French poacher scored the vast majority of his 37 goals last season in the penalty area, and also posted a fantastic shot conversion rate close to 32 percent.
