Report: Swansea rejects Everton's £45M bid for Sigurdsson

Swansea City is standing firm on its asking price for Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Welsh side is believed to have rejected Everton's latest attempt to sign Sigurdsson after turning down an offer worth £40 million plus £5 million in add-ons, according to Sky Sports.

The latest offer fell short of Swansea's reported £50 million valuation - a figure that the club has refused to adjust since Everton's reported interest first emerged.

A determined Ronald Koeman was hoping Everton's latest bid would be enough to convince Swansea to sell the gifted Iceland international, according to John Percy of The Telegraph.

The timing of Everton's failed bid comes more than a week after Sigurdsson told manager Paul Clement that he would not travel with Swansea to the United States because he was "not in the right frame of mind" due to the uncertainty surrounding his playing future.

Everton's initial bid of £40 million was rejected, with Swansea later releasing a statement declaring the club "will not be bullied" into selling Sigurdsson until interested parties match the price associated with the 27-year-old.

If Everton's bid was successful, Sigurdsson would have become the latest high-profile arrival at Goodison Park following the captures of Wayne Rooney, Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, and Davy Klaassen.
