Report: Matic close to joining United from Chelsea
Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic is on the verge of following Jose Mourinho to Manchester United.
Matic is said to be keen on moving to Old Trafford despite reported interest from Juventus, according to the Guardian's David Hytner, Fabrizio Romano, and Emre Sarigul.
The Premier League rivals have yet reach an agreement over a transfer fee, but Chelsea is believed to be unwilling to waver from a £50-million valuation in response to losing out on Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United earlier this month.
A deal for the Serbian midfielder, however, may only cost £40 million, as Chelsea and United have reportedly reached an agreement, according to Simon Stone of the BBC.
Matic is reportedly undergoing a medical Sunday, and the transfer will be announced Monday at the latest, James Ducker of The Telegraph adds.
Juventus was also said to be interested in procuring Matic's services, but the Italian champion has now allegedly turned its attention to Blaise Matuidi of Paris Saint-Germain.
United's pursuit of Matic follows the club's failed bid to sign Eric Dier after reportedly failing to convince Tottenham to sell the English international with a bid worth £40 million.
Matic previously worked under Mourinho during their time together at Chelsea, where they lifted the 2014-15 league title before the Portuguese manager was sacked following a dreadful start to the 2015-16 Premier League campaign.
