Premier League kit rankings: Who has the best new away shirt?

The new Premier League season is nearly upon us, and, as is the case every campaign, each of the 20 teams will be rocking fresh away shirts. As with any change, the new kits must be scrutinized intensely and ranked accordingly. We asked five of theScore's football editors to rate each shirt out of 10.

Here's how we rank the 20 away kits for the 2017-18 Premier League season:

20. Newcastle United

11/50 - Oh, no, Newcastle United - this is just awful.

19. Brighton & Hove Albion

15/50 - Brighton is a beachfront city rich with culture. As such, the ugly puke yellow and green are familiar shades to the city's more ferocious party-goers.

18. Liverpool

19/50 - How can Liverpool's home shirt be so nice only for its away shirt to look this poor? Such is the duality of life; where there is beauty, there is also pain.

17. Crystal Palace

22/50 - This kit would be just fine if it weren't for the eyesore that is the sponsor logo.

16. Stoke City

22/50 - We don't even know where to start with this one: Macron's shiny fabric is almost always ugly, and the red block in the middle screams "TONER LOW."

15) Manchester United

24/50 - Woof. What in the world happened here, Manchester United? These pattern kits more closely resemble something a late-90s MLS outfit would don.

14. Swansea City

25/50 - A nod to its Welsh pride, Swansea does much better with its away kit than it did with its plain white home shirt, though that's not saying much.

13. Watford

26/50 - Remember Middlesbrough? They also wore these strange midsection sashes, only to be relegated last year. Watford hopes not to invoke the same.

12. West Bromwich Albion

27/50 - All it needed was a less distracting sponsor and West Brom would have finished much higher in these rankings. As is, it looks like a bad chest tattoo.

11. Chelsea

27/50 - You can buy a white t-shirts at Tesco for £5 and glue a Chelsea badge on each for £5 more. Congrats! You now basically own this kit.

10. Leicester City

28/30 - Leicester City's away kit reveal was shrouded in shadow, but that was the point, apparently. Equally hard to see? The Foxes winning a trophy again.

9. Everton

30/50 - We're all about the outlined badge look these days, and no club pulls it off better than Everton. The textured white and light blue is a brilliant combo.

8. Manchester City

32/50 - Maroon has long been a staple of Manchester City's look - the colour was present on the shirt worn during the FA Cup-winning season in 1956 - and it works well as the foundation of this elegant, simple kit.

7. Bournemouth

35/50 - Very well done, Bournemouth. A unique color coupled with clean lines make for a great away look to the otherwise traditional red-and-black stripes of the home shirt.

6. Huddersfield

36/50 - Huddersfield topped our home kit rankings, and the club's away shirt is not too far behind. Points for a beautiful color combination and sweet collar.

5. Southampton

36/50 - Southampton picked a unique colour combination, and it worked well. These shirts are equal parts smart, striking and classy.

4. Tottenham

37/50 - Tottenham, take a bow. There's something incredibly appealing about the colours, simplicity and subtle trim. Like its home kit, Spurs did well here.

3. Burnley

38/50 - Now that's more like it from Burnley. The home shirt is nothing to write home about, but the away kit looks like a piece of art. Love it.

2. Arsenal

39/50 - It's gorgeous, and scored full marks with three of our five voters. Arsenal has outdone itself with this away shirt, proving two-tone can be done.

1. West Ham United

41/50 - West Ham's away kit is the best of the bunch this season. The colours make this our clear top choice.
