Bony returns to Swansea as Llorente's replacement
Swansea City announced the return of Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony from Manchester City mere moments after sanctioning the sale of Fernando Llorente to Tottenham on Thursday.
Bony, who scored 26 goals over 54 league appearances in his first spell with the Swans, signed a two-year contract with an option for a third.
A fee wasn't disclosed.
The 28-year-old endeared himself to supporters with his poise in front of goal. Unfortunately for City, which paid a reported £25 million for his services in 2015, Bony couldn't produce the same performances at the Etihad. He only mustered 10 goals for the Citizens, and struggled to reimagine himself on loan with Stoke City last season.
Swansea turned back to Bony once Llorente's departure became inevitable. Manager Paul Clement can now count on summer recruits Tammy Abraham, who arrived on loan from Chelsea, and Bony to lead the line. Clement also secured the signings of Roque Mesa, Renato Sanches, and Sam Clucas to round out a solid transfer campaign.
Bony initially joined the Welsh side from Vitesse in 2013 for a then-club-record fee.
