Rooney's court sketch ruthlessly mocked on Twitter
The internet already had enough material to ridicule Wayne Rooney for years, but more fuel was added to the flames when a sketch of the Everton star emerged from his court hearing for drink-driving.
Similar to the treatment of the questionable Cristiano Ronaldo bust, Rooney's "likeness" was at the centre of jokes and memes, with some suggesting the drawing was intended as punishment to go along with the two-year driving ban he received Monday.
Whether Rooney was compared to a stereotypical British gangster or Popeye, there was no shortage of jokes once the image went public:
In today's episode of Courtroom Sketch Quiz, is this a bruiser character from an early 2000's Guy Ritchie flick, or footballer Wayne Rooney? pic.twitter.com/22DFsq3eA6

In a general scale of art/footballer's likenesses Rooney's court room sketch is up there with the Ronaldo statue/bust. pic.twitter.com/JcF09bV6EY

Wayne Rooney's court sketch. He's been banned for driving for 2 years and I reckon this is still the worst thing to happen to him today. pic.twitter.com/bQEL9GVjgs

The court sketch artist appears to have confused Wayne Rooney with Popeye tbh pic.twitter.com/XEv3VNa48j

The court sketch of Wayne Rooney looks like adult Bobby Hill from the darkest possible timeline. pic.twitter.com/6zbEcHPjWa

Others compared the sketch to the infamous drawing of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
The Wayne Rooney court sketch isn't Tom Brady-level, but I am excited to see him play a boxer-turned-bodyguard in a British gangster flick. pic.twitter.com/CqYTqC4zpX

That's really good! She needs to teach the Tom Brady sketch artist how to really do it now. pic.twitter.com/twAxH0mDqX
