Report: Lukaku set to miss L.A. court date for July arrest
Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku will be absent for a court date in Los Angeles after being arrested on July 2 over excessive noise complaints and ignoring multiple police warnings, reports Sky Sports.
The complaint came in the days leading up to Lukaku's massive £90-million move to United as he and new teammate Paul Pogba partied in a rented mansion in Beverly Hills.
The Associated Press reported that police arrested but didn't handcuff Lukaku, nor was he taken into police custody for booking. He was set to appear at Los Angeles Airport Courthouse. Sky Sports reports it is not yet known if Lukaku will make an appearance, but staff did confirm he can send a lawyer instead.
Lukaku is currently training with the Belgium national team ahead of World Cup qualifying matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Oct. 7 and Cyprus on Oct. 10. He brings with him 15 goals in 12 appearances for the Red Devils, helping the club sit atop the league alongside Manchester City on 19 points.
Belgium's upcoming fixtures are merely a formality, however, having already qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup by finishing top of Group H with 22 points in eight matches. Barring a single draw against Greece, Belgium has won its remaining matches with relative ease, including 6-0 and 9-0 wins over Gibraltar and 5-0 and 8-1 victories against Estonia.
For his efforts, Lukaku tops Group H scoring with 10 goals.
