Seamus Coleman is one step closer to returning to Everton's first team.
On Tuesday, Coleman, who suffered a broken leg in Ireland's 2018 World Cup qualifier against Wales in March, returned to the pitch. The Irish right-back was a starter as Everton Under-23s beat Portsmouth Under-23s 3-0 in the Premier League Cup, playing 58 minutes at Goodison Park.
He underwent surgery after fracturing his right tibia and fibula as Ireland and Wales played out a scoreless draw at Aviva Stadium. While recovering, he put pen to paper on a contract that tied him to the Toffees until the summer of 2022.
In 2016-17, Coleman tallied four goals and three assists in 26 Premier League appearances.
