AS Monaco have reportedly beaten Chelsea to the signing of CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, agreeing to pay €30 million for the Russian international.

Sources told ESPN FC's Tom Hamilton that a deal is in place to send the 22-year-old to the principality.

Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev confirmed last week that the club submitted a "respectable" offer for the attack-minded Golovin.

The Blues were reportedly in talks with CSKA to sign Golovin for a similar fee, but reports of a move died down as Chelsea turned their attention to Jorginho. The Italian international arrived in west London with manager Maurizio Sarri.

Juventus and Arsenal were also linked to Golovin.

He's now expected to become Monaco's 10th signing of the close season, funded in part by the sales of Fabinho and Thomas Lemar.

Golovin's profile skyrocketed when Russia made an unexpected run to the quarter-finals of the World Cup. He was an ever-present figure in that ascent, scoring once and tallying two assists.

Golovin played with an endless energy reserve, often covering more ground than anyone else on the pitch, and his set-piece prowess was on full display when he dispatched a perfect free-kick in Russia's opening 5-0 win versus Saudi Arabia.
