Tottenham duo Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris will miss Saturday's marquee match against Liverpool with respective hamstring and thigh injuries, the club confirmed Thursday.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said Dele could also sit out next week's Champions League opener versus Inter, while Lloris faces "several weeks" on the sidelines.

"Alli is a bit unlucky. He suffered a small injury after 20 minutes in the game against Spain at Wembley," Pochettino told Sky Sports. "We are disappointed because we're going to miss him for this game and possibly Inter Milan in the Champions League, but the most important thing is it's not a big issue."

Lloris' situation is a little bit worse. The 31-year-old was already unavailable for Tottenham's defeat to Watford, as well as France's Nations League matches over the international break. Backup 'keeper Michel Vorm is expected to start in goal while the Frenchman continues the rehabilitation process.

Pochettino said he still has full trust in Lloris despite a £50,000 fine and driving ban for a recent drunk driving charge.

"Everyone can make a mistake. He made a mistake and he is suffering. He is punishing himself," the manager added. "That is a massive lesson for everyone. He was the first to tell me he made a mistake."

However, Pochettino can call upon Heung-Min Son now that the South Korean is back from international duty at the Asian Games.
