Twitter begged City to show mercy against outclassed Burton Albion
Manchester City's social media team said it best, as the reigning Premier League titleholders were simply "unstoppable" in the first leg of their League Cup semifinal against Burton Albion on Wednesday.
Social media users called on City and manager Pep Guardiola to go easy on the League One side when the hosts took a 4-0 lead into the break.
Instead, City went on to bang in another five goals en route to a 9-0 victory.
Here's how the final stages of Wednesday's blowout unfolded on Twitter:

Although the final whistle surely came as a relief to those associated with Burton, the teams will meet again in two weeks for the second leg.
