Wagner steps down as Huddersfield manager
Huddersfield Town are on the lookout for a new manager after David Wagner vacated the post by mutual consent on Monday.
The Terriers are on a run of eight consecutive league defeats, leaving them eight points adrift of safety at the bottom of the Premier League table. They face Manchester City, Everton, Chelsea, and Arsenal in their next four matches.
"Under David's management, we took this club to the highest position it has held in almost 50 years and created memories that will last forever," chairman Dean Hoyle said in a statement.
"His achievements will rightly put him up there in Huddersfield Town history alongside great names like Herbert Chapman and Mick Buxton; legendary managers who changed the face of this club."

Wagner took over Huddersfield in November 2015, when the club sitting 19th in the Championship table. He guided the West Yorkshire outfit to Premier League promotion via the playoffs in his first full season in charge, and then defied the odds to keep the team in the top flight last term. He was rewarded for his efforts with a new three-year contract in May.
The 2018-19 campaign, however, has taken a sorry turn. Following a busy summer transfer window, the Terriers prop up the Premier League with just two wins in 22 matches. They've scored a league-worst 13 goals and conceded the sixth most at 37. Wagner's last match at the helm was Saturday's forgettable goalless draw at Cardiff City.
Hoyle, a local businessman and passionate Huddersfield supporter, has acted swiftly during the January window - perhaps looking for a new manager to spearhead a recruitment drive. As part of a New Year's message to fans, Hoyle vowed to not let the club "sleepwalk into relegation," indicating that Huddersfield will delve into some winter transfer business.
In addition to some incoming deals, the next Huddersfield boss will be hoping for a speedy recovery for creative spark Aaron Mooy. The Aussie midfielder is currently sidelined until at least the end of January.
