Rodgers happy to help out tenant Klopp

London, April 26, 2019 (AFP) - Brendan Rodgers is hoping Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp won't withhold his rent if the Leicester boss fails to help his tenant in the Premier League title race.

Klopp rents the Formby mansion that Rodgers lived in during his spell in charge at Liverpool from 2012 to 2015.

The German joked on Thursday that he would withhold payment in an attempt to help motivate Leicester ahead of their game against Liverpool's title rivals Manchester City next weekend.

Liverpool and City are locked in a thrilling battle for the title and a win for Leicester would be a huge boost to Klopp's bid to bring the trophy back to Anfield for the first time since 1990.

"I don't think it's a secret (that I'm his landlord). It has been well-documented," said Rodgers on Friday, who moved back to the Premier League after leaving Celtic for Leicester earlier this season.

"I saw what he said, he is a funny guy. He has been a very, very good tenant. I don't need to keep an eye on him. He always pays up on time. He's very good!

"We have a game before that but my job is to do Leicester a favour. Every game is important.

"These are exciting games in this last period of the season and we will look to give our best and finish the season as strongly as we can."

Klopp isn't the only key figure at Liverpool to borrow his home from another member of the football fraternity.

Reds defender Virgil van Dijk is renting the house of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

After being appointed United manager on a permanent basis following his successful interim spell earlier this season, Solskjaer revealed he would move into a different house instead of having to kick out Van Dijk.
