Report: Eriksen wants Inter move in January, Spurs holding out for €20M

Christian Eriksen has told Inter that he wants to join them in January, reports the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano.

The Dane will now wait to see if the Italian club and Tottenham Hotspur can shake hands over a transfer fee and trigger his immediate move to Milan. Inter apparently opened formal talks with Spurs by tabling a €10-million offer, but it's understood the north London outfit values Eriksen at €20 million.

"Played very well, very professional which is what I expect from him," Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho said of Eriksen's performance in Tuesday's FA Cup win over Middlesbrough, according to the Evening Standard's Alex Young.

"If his decision is to leave, I think he has to leave with his head up, if he gives everything which is what he tries to do for the team.

"Fans, it's always to respect, we have to respect but I think the boy did it for us today."

If Inter and Spurs fail to reach an agreement, Eriksen will face the prospect of seeing out his Tottenham deal, which expires at the end of the season. The 27-year-old will then be available on a free transfer.

Inter and other foreign clubs can strike a pre-contract agreement with Eriksen now, which would secure his services in the offseason for nothing.

Inter are offering Eriksen a four-year contract and will extend it by a further six months if he joins the club this month, Romano understands. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in Eriksen but Inter are the firm favourites to land his signature.
