Sampdoria seeking 10% of Fernandes' £47M transfer to Manchester United
Sampdoria believe Portuguese side Sporting CP owe them 10% of Bruno Fernandes' £47-million transfer to Manchester United.
Sampdoria, who sold Fernandes to Sporting in 2017, included a 10% sell-on clause in the deal.
The Italian club raised a complaint to FIFA in April in the hopes of recouping around £4 million.
"We can confirm that on April 3, 2020, the Italian club, UC Sampdoria, lodged a claim with FIFA against the Portuguese club, Sporting Clube de Portugal, related to financial obligations set out in the contract corresponding to the transfer of the Portuguese player, Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes," a FIFA spokesperson said, according to ESPN's Rob Dawson.
"The matter is currently being investigated and consequently we cannot provide further comments."
Fernandes could cost United over £67 million if he qualifies for certain performance-related bonuses, according to Dawson.
The 25-year-old scored 64 goals in 137 matches with Sporting and drew interest from several of Europe's big hitters before joining United in January.
