Tottenham complete signing of Hart on 2-year deal

Tottenham Hotspur officially signed Joe Hart on Tuesday to a two-year contract, the club announced.

The 33-year-old joins Spurs on a free transfer after his deal with Burnley expired earlier this summer.

Hart is expected to challenge Paulo Gazzaniga for the backup role in north London; following the departure of Michel Vorm, Spurs were in the market for another shot-stopper who could potentially deputize for Hugo Lloris, the club captain and undisputed No. 1 between the sticks.

Hart, once an integral figure at Manchester City, has struggled to get on the pitch in recent years. After being jettisoned by Pep Guardiola, he spent loan spells at Torino and West Ham United before eventually securing a permanent move to Burnley in 2018.

He didn't make a single Premier League appearance for the Clarets this past season.

The former England international, who won 75 caps for the Three Lions, becomes the second notable signing of the summer for Jose Mourinho and Spurs, who also secured the signature of midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg earlier in the window.
