In addition to parting with Lamela, Tottenham paid €25 million (£21.6 million) to secure the services of the highly rated 20-year-old, according to The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano and Marcus Christenson.
Gil will officially link up with his new team after competing in the Tokyo Olympics with Spain.
He progressed through the Sevilla academy and spent last season on loan at Eibar. Gil scored four goals in 29 games in 2020-21.
Gil is considered a throwback winger and an elite dribbler who's developed a reputation as a fearless competitor.
Meanwhile, Lamela heads to Spain after spending eight years at Tottenham. He made 257 appearances after joining the club from AS Roma in 2013.
