Report: Wantaway Kane skips training again, expected to return this week
Harry Kane failed to show at Tottenham Hotspur's training ground for a second day as the striker tries to force a move from the club, according to BBC Sport's Simon Stone.
The England captain is expected to be fined for his absences amid reported interest from Manchester City. Kane, 28, believes he has a gentleman's agreement with chairman Daniel Levy to leave Spurs this summer.
The forward is expected to return to Hotspur Way by the end of this week despite the continued standoff. Talks are then planned to take place between Levy and Kane's representatives, which include the 28-year-old's father, Pat, and his older brother, Charlie, The Guardian's David Hytner reports.
City have already had a bid worth an initial £100 million turned down by Spurs, and they've apparently refused to meet Levy's asking price, which could reach as much as £160 million. Kane has three years remaining on a contract worth around £200,000 a week.
New Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo stated Kane was part of his future plans for the club in mid-July but hasn't spoken about the situation since.
"We are ambitious, we want to do well, and we count on Harry to do that," Nuno said at his first press conference as Spurs boss, according to Sky Sports.
"Harry is our player, period. There is no need to talk about anything else. Now is the time for him to rest. When he returns, we can have a good conversation. I am looking forward to him joining the group."
Kane won his third Premier League Golden Boot last term after scoring 23 goals, and he also collected the competition's Playmaker of the Season award for tallying 14 assists. His individual feats are yet to be accompanied by club honors, with Spurs falling short in two League Cup finals and a Champions League showpiece during his time in the senior squad.
"Individual awards are great. They're fantastic achievements. At the end of my career, these are things I will go over and take in a little bit more. But the goal right now as a player is to win team trophies," Kane said in May. "As much as this is great, I want to be winning the biggest prizes there is to offer as a team, and we're not quite doing that."
Kane could team up with England colleague Jack Grealish if he makes the move to Manchester City. The Premier League champions reportedly submitted a £100-million offer for the Aston Villa attacker last week.
