Watch: City's Jesus catches Liverpool sleeping to end frantic 1st half
Pep Guardiola's decision to give Gabriel Jesus a surprise start against Liverpool paid off during the first half of Sunday's showdown at the Etihad Stadium.
The Brazilian attacker - making his first Premier League start since New Year's Day - gave Manchester City a 2-1 lead to close out a frantic opening 45 minutes with a goal that seemingly came out of nowhere thanks to Liverpool's delayed response.
However, Sadio Mane ensured that the lead was short-lived after the break, scoring less than a minute into the second half to bring Liverpool level.
