USMNT star Adams 'almost' ready for Bournemouth return
BOURNEMOUTH, England (AP) — Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams is on track to make his season debut after the international break.
The United States captain had back surgery in early July and is nearly ready for game action, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola said Friday.
"Tyler will not be fit for the Leicester game but he's almost there," Iraola said. "He's going to train fully with the team in the international break."
The break follows Saturday's Premier League game at Leicester. Mid-table Bournemouth then hosts Arsenal on Oct. 19.
Adams missed most of last season because of a hamstring problem, and after a brief return he ended his debut Bournemouth campaign with back spasms.
The 25-year-old Adams played a full game for the U.S. in its 1-0 loss to Uruguay at the Copa America on July 1 but days later had back surgery.
Adams was not included in U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino's squad announced this week for upcoming friendlies.
