Mohamed Salah became the first player in Premier League history to break for Christmas with at least 10 goals and 10 assists after recording two of each in Liverpool's 6-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Salah increased his output to 15 goals and 11 assists to lead all Premier League scorers after 17 games.

The Egyptian also moved into fourth place on Liverpool's all-time scoring list with 229 goals in 373 total appearances for the club. Only Ian Rush, Roger Hunt, and Gordon Hodgson have scored more for Liverpool.

"It's great to achieve that at such a big club, but the most important thing is that we won the game. Wherever I am going to end my career, I am happy about it," Salah, who's out of contract at the end of the season, told Sky Sports.

Liverpool extended their lead to four points after outgunning Tottenham in a back-and-forth encounter the visitors at one point led 5-1.

Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister powered Liverpool into a deserved 2-0 lead before James Maddison clawed a goal back for Spurs. The reprieve barely lasted as Dominik Szoboszlai countered in the first minute of first-half stoppage time to sap any momentum out of Tottenham's comeback effort.

Salah set up Szoboszlai's goal shortly after the interval with an incredible reverse pass off a quick move up the field. Liverpool repeated the same play over and over, beating Tottenham's high line with a series of long balls that set up numerous breakaways throughout the game.

Salah scored his first goal of the night off a similar counterattack, finishing it off 14 seconds after it began. He tapped home his second 12 seconds after Liverpool initiated another breakaway.

Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke's strikes were merely consolation efforts as Diaz confirmed the result with the game's ninth tally shortly before the end of regular time.

Liverpool have now won 21 of 25 games since Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp as manager.
