Chelsea reached an agreement with Manchester United for winger Alejandro Garnacho, sources told Rob Dawson of ESPN.

The Blues will pay £40 million for the Argentine winger, and Manchester United will also receive 10% of any future sale, according to Dawson.

Garnacho is expected to undergo a medical in London on Friday before signing a contract until 2032 with the Club World Cup champions.

The reported agreement brings an end to one of the summer's most protracted transfer stories. Chelsea have been chasing the 21-year-old for months, and reportedly opened negotiations with a £25-million offer. Manchester United's initial plan was to reject any bids below their £50-million valuation, but they eventually accepted Chelsea's improved terms.

Garnacho is one of several Manchester United players who was told by Ruben Amorim to look for another club this summer. A transfer always seemed likely after Garnacho was critical of Amorim for leaving him out of the starting lineup for last season's Europa League final loss to Tottenham.

Garnacho, who came through Manchester United's academy, has made 144 senior appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals.
