Newcastle faced an early deficit after Edin Dzeko's goal in the eighth minute, but the Magpies looked to have equalized after Cheik Tioté's magnificent strike.

But they didn't. Referee Mike Jones consulted with his linesman and ruled that Yoan Gouffran, who was in an offside position, interfered with Joe Hart's ability to make the save.
