Olivier Giroud denies having affair: 'I have not committed adultery'
After apologizing to both his family and his team for allegedly having an affair with lingerie model Celia Kay prior to a Premier League match earlier this year, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is backtracking in a big way.
The Frenchman -- who used Twitter to issue his initial statement -- has returned to the social media site after a brief hiatus to announce that he, in fact, did not have an extra-marital affair.
It seems a little too late for 'deny, deny, deny.' Nevertheless, here's what he had to say on the matter:
In corroboration with Giroud, Kay took to her Instagram account to (seemingly) confirm that the two did not sleep together.
Note: What happened to making a statement using actual words, you know, from your mouth? The horror.
That post was accompanied by the following message:
You think you know but you have no idea...
You're right, Celia. We have no idea what actually happened.
After sending us a series of cryptic and conflicting messages on social media sites, you'll have to excuse us for that.
Two things are certain here.
Something obviously happened between the pair. And secondly, no Arsenal supporter will think twice about it if Giroud performs well against Bayern Munich later today in the Champions League.
Such is the life of a professional athlete.
