Fans, players, and league officials joined together Saturday at Upton Park to pay tribute to Dylan Tombides, the former West Ham player who passed away Friday after tragically losing his battle with testicular cancer.

Tombides, an Australian striker who made his senior debut with the club in a Capital One Cup match back in October of last year, was just 20 years old.

Prior to Saturday's match against Crystal Palace, West Ham supporters showed their support for Tombides and his family by creating a display just outside the stadium in his memory.

Tombides, who was initially diagnosed with the disease in 2011, underwent treatment and was eventually able to make his debut with the club in the aforementioned match, but suffered a relapse prior to his passing on Friday.

West Ham honored the memory of the young striker by asking fans and players inside the stadium to engage in a minute's worth of applause as part of a touching ceremony just before kick-off.

His family was also in attendance, and took part in the tribute:

The footballing world has reacted in unison to the news of Tombides' untimely death, with tributes pouring in from those who knew him well, and those who didn't.
