Giggs, who was named interim manager following the firing of David Moyes after 51 games this past season, was long rumored to be in contention for a role on Van Gaal's staff.
With the 40-year-old Welshman considered by many to be a candidate for a full-time coaching role at some point in the future, the opportunity to work under the tutelage of the experienced Dutchman will certainly work as a positive.
It is unclear if Giggs will continue playing, as no statement was made on the matter by either the midfielder or the club, but that seems unlikely.
