Everton's Howard unhappy with Leicester draw: 'We should be putting teams away'
Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard was frustrated after the club opened its season with a 2-2 draw against newly promoted Leicester.
While Howard acknowledged the positives of Everton's season-opener, noting the club's possession advantage and high pace were difficult for Leicester to deal with, he stated it's all for naught unless they can finish better.
“We took the lead twice and we should be putting teams away but we didn’t do that," Howard said during an interview with EvertonTV. "They have got two unlucky goals from our standpoint but they took them well. Leicester worked hard and created opportunities out of nothing."
Everton scored both of its goals in the first half but let the lead slip away twice - allowing the final equalizer with only five minutes remaining in the contest.
Howard's frustration was shared by Everton manager Roberto Martinez.
"We should have won the game and we only have ourselves to blame," Martinez told reporters following the match.
