Gabriel Agbonlahor signs new 4-year contract with Aston Villa

Reuters

Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has pledged his future to the club.

The deal will see him tied to the only club he has ever known until 2018.

Agbonlahor, 27, looked like a legitimate striker earlier in his career, notching three consecutive seasons (beginning in 2007) with at least 11 Premier League goals.

However, injuries, a subsequent dip form and being converted into more of a winger have seen him unable to recapture those numbers, as he has only found the net 21 times in the last four seasons - not a bad total for a wide player, but considering the early promise, somewhat disappointing.

In three matches this season, the Englishman - who has won three caps for his country - has one goal.

"It's a fantastic feeling for me to commit my future to Aston Villa," Agbonlahor said of the announcement.
