Report: Manchester City, Swansea agree to deal for Wilfried Bony

The last thing Manchester City needs is an impetus of attacking talent, but reports suggest they are about to get a very big one.

ESPN FC is reporting that City have agreed to a fee with Swansea over the transfer of striker Wilfried Bony, with the Ivorian set to make the switch in a deal worth around £28 million.

Bony, who is away with the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations, was the highest scoring player in the Premier League in 2014, finding the net 20 times in the calendar year. This season the powerful striker has scored nine goals, good enough for fifth in the EPL.

Despite already having Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic in the squad, manager Manuel Pellegrini said last week that the summer sale of Alvaro Negredo to Valencia created a need for another striker to arrive.

"We are going to replace Alvaro Negredo because it was the decision that we took in the moment we sold him," Pellegrini was quoted as saying. "We need another striker so we are going to find which is the best player to bring in."

Bony would certainly appear to be one of the best options out there at the moment.
