Newcastle's Sissoko reveals desire to leave, prefers move to Arsenal
Moussa Sissoko has acknowledged his desire to move away from Newcastle United in favour of a bigger club.
After confirming his dedication to Newcastle in an interview with Telefoot, the midfielder went on to express his admiration for the team's Premier League rivals Arsenal, talking about the possibility of Arsene Wenger contacting him regarding a move to London.
"If anything should happen, it will. I hope I’ll leave for a bigger club one day, but I don’t know when. England is my priority," Sissoko said.
"If (Arsene) Wenger calls, I’ll have a man-to-man discussion with him and then we’ll see. Arsenal has always been the club of my heart."
The comments are inspired by an eagerness to advance his career by playing in Europe's biggest competition, which Arsenal have competed in for 17 consecutive seasons.
"I hope I’ll improve to win the Champions League one day. I don’t want to set limits to myself. I want to go higher. That’s my goal."
Luke Edwards of The Telegraph suggested former Newcastle manager Alan Pardew's recent decision to leave the squad in favour of a move to Crystal Palace was made because he feared the French midfielder would be sold and he would take the blame from fans for a decision made by the team's board members.
Newcastle signed Sissoko for £1.7 million from Ligue 1 side Toulouse two years ago, and will look to make a considerable profit, as the reported asking price is set at £20 million.
