Roberto Mancini: Yaya Toure could be interested in move to Inter Milan
Roberto Mancini has some big plans for Inter. Unrealistic, but big nonetheless.
The manager was asked about the possibility of signing Manchester City star Yaya Toure during a recent interview, and noted that, while obviously difficult, his club is of the necessary calibre to lure players of that quality away from other big sides in Europe.
"I wanted him at Man City so he's a player I know pretty well," Mancini said. "He's one of the best footballers in the world but he belongs to City at the moment.
"I don't know what might happen in future but I can say that Inter have a big enough appeal to attract players of that calibre. The club has over 100 years of history behind it and a huge collection of silverware."
He conveniently left out the fact that Inter - or any Italian club for that matter - would likely be unable to compete with the wages that Toure garners at City.
Still, it's nice to dream big. After signing Lukas Podolski and Xherdan Shaqiri already during the winter transfer window, Inter has proven an ability to attract quality talent to the San Siro. This, though, seems like wishful thinking.
That said, there is a history between the two men from their time in England, and rumors - while their validity has been questioned - continue to swirl over Toure's happiness at the Etihad.
It could happen.
