The 22-year-old Egyptian moved to Stamford Bridge last January from FC Basel, but struggled to nail down first-team action, featuring primarily as a substitute under manager Jose Mourinho.
While not officially intertwined, the deal is almost certainly part of the move that saw winger Juan Cuadrado go from Florence to West London earlier in the day.
