Christian Eriksen on Michael Laudrup comparison: 'I've learned to live with it'
Is Christian Eriksen the next Michael Laudrup of Danish football?
Regardless of the answer, Eriksen is used to the comparison.
In conversation with James Riach from the Guardian, Tottenham's 23-year-old attacking midfielder discussed the proclamation among a number of other items and claimed he's become accustomed to the comparison as it's one that most Danish footballers are subjected to at a young age.
"I always had it, so I've learned to live with it," Eriksen said. "Every player has a different style of play, has a different talent, so people look differently at you. But in the position I play, you need to have a bit of pressure. A lot of players who start young always get the comparison from other people, a bit older. Or the Danish newspapers with Laudrup ... but I've been used to it from early on."
Eriksen has notched nine goals and one assist through 26 Premier League fixtures this season, numbers that certainly justify the hype. And, for comparison's sake, upon turning 23, Laudrup had just completed a campaign with Juventus where he had bagged three goals through 20 Serie A appearances.
